Sixth-form music students at Thomas Hardye School take to the stage at Dorchester Arts
Thomas Hardye School Musical Showcases
Thursday 22 & Wednesday 28 February
Dorchester Corn Exchange
The Thomas Hardye School presents a concert of solo performances by sixth-form students who are taking Music A-level on Thursday 22 and Wednesday 28 February at Dorchester Arts at 1pm.
The concerts are an opportunity to hear talented local students as they prepare for their A-level performance exams.
As ever, there will be a great variety of music, and a great deal of talent, on show. Where else are you likely to hear a classical singer, solos on electric guitar, oboe, trombone, or drum kit all in the same concert?
These annual concerts have grown more and more popular in the last 10 years and are a wonderful opportunity for audiences to hear and support our own young musicians.
Peter Oakes, music teacher at the Thomas Hardye School, presents the concerts each year. He says, ‘It has always been one of the pleasures of teaching Music at Hardye’s that I have been involved with arranging student performances of this sort. Every year, members of the audience, both from Dorset and also visitors to the town, come up to me afterwards and tell me how surprised they are at the high standard of the music-making. We at Hardye’s are used to such standards!’
These are both free events, however donations are welcome.
