LIONS SHOW THE WAY TO THE HUB
Weymouth & Portland Lions have given their support to the Veterans by providing them with a sign for their ‘Community Café’.
Lions President Roger Hogbin, shown here with ‘Hub’ Director Darren Bowden, said “It was an honour and a pleasure to meet Darren. The Hub provides excellent support to the veterans and a warm welcome to visitors, and I am very pleased that the members of the Weymouth and Portland Lions Club have been able to contribute to their efforts in a small way”.
The ‘Hub’ is located on the Portland Road in Wyke Regis just behind ‘Bits & Bobs’. The veterans would like everyone to know that the ‘Hub’ is not just for the veterans but for the community at large and want it to be known that all are welcome.
Further information about the ‘Hub’ can be found on their facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/veteranshubweymouth.
The Lions were able to use funds for this from their various events throughout the year, most recently the very successful Beach Motocross. Lions Publicity Officer Norman Apps said “We have a very busy time ahead of us in the lead up to Christmas with the Senior Citizens Christmas Show on the 27th November which is almost sold out, a town centre extravaganza of music, dance and entertainment called ‘Weymouth’s Christmas Present’ and finally the ever popular Christmas Day Harbour Swim. Details of all these can be found on our website www.weymouthlionsclub.co.uk and social media”.
