There are only a few tickets left for the first night of the performance on Friday 8th February at 7.30pm start. The show runs Friday 8th to Sunday 10th February 2019.
Ali Baba & The Four Thieves is directed by Jo Mackay and stars many well-known local faces and the story starts when Ali Baba and his brother Kasim are robbed in the souk, Ali Baba vows to track the thieves. We join Ali Baba on his journey, as he encounters a collection of delectable dancers, snake charmers, thieves and a camel, amongst others. We also find out how the Genie got into the dusty old lamp and will Ali Baba get his wishes granted in this exciting family-friendly show.
Nikki always picks filthy weather to go on these assignments but the beautiful old theatre made up for that.
Nikki says: “The performance started with all the cast on stage singing... Set in Baghdad but don’t think the local references are not forgotten... a good use of songs during set changes and although you can’t help smile when the slave dancers come on stage (I will leave that one for u to enjoy Fatima for those going...)..
“Everyone puts in a great effort and although it took us the audience a little while to warm up there was all the usual booing at baddies and clapping. Ali Baba has a lot of dialogue clearly delivered and Kasim the brother seems confident on stage. The genie is another to make you giggle.”
There are limited tickets left for Friday’s opening night online and a few for Sunday at some of the outlets on the island. In conclusion Nikki says: “They should have more performances for people to enjoy but for those of you going you are in for a treat... especially those at the front.”
Nikki Latham and Chesil Radio would like to thank the team at Royal Manor Theatre and look forward to being invited to more in the future....
