Dickie Borthwick Kicks Out A Tune At His Local Pub

It was a pleasure to bump into Dickie Borthwick on Sunday night at The Duke Of Albany, and although I was mid birthday celebrations, taking a few minutes to chat to this Weymouth legend was great.
Dickie had until December last year been still playing football at the grand age of 86. He is recognised as the oldest veteran football player, having started his career in 1957.

Dickie who played wing or up front, says that he has played in over 1,600 matches and scored over 400 goals. Sadly, the pandemic and an back injury resulted in his retirement at the end of 2021.
But he has not taken a well earned rest, he has produced a book of his life that is available from the Duke Of Albany or direct from him. Chesil Radio is happy to pass on Dickie's details for anyone who would like to purchase one direct from him.
He was also belting out a couple of tunes on the karaoke on Sunday night, so maybe another career in the making for this 86-year-old local legend.
