Let's give a round of applause for the amazing care home hound!

At the recent Celebrating Excellence in Care Awards in Plymouth, some of the most dedicated adult social care workers were honoured for their hard work. Among the winners was Ruby, the resident therapy dog at Parkwood House, who received a 'highly commended' award in the People’s Choice category for care homes.

Ruby, a mixed-breed described as a 'wolfhound impersonator', freely roams the care home and provides comfort to residents, especially those who had to leave their pets behind. Her presence makes the transition to residential care a little easier for everyone.

Despite not being able to attend the ceremony, Ruby was recognized with a special package of treats as a token of appreciation for the joy she brings to residents and staff alike. At 13 years old, she continues to be a beloved companion to all.
