No Trains For Devon & Dorset During Strike Action For GWR & SWR Customers, With Very Limited Service

The devastating news that there will no train services in Dorset & Devon during the strike days has come as a shock to us at Chesil Radio, although we do await a strike update from Crosscountry trains. The action is due to take place on 21st, 23rd and 25th June, across the whole rail network. All train operators are asking passengers to only travel if necessary during this time.
The information received today, shows that services have left Dorset's county town, Dorchester, without a train service, but also Bournemouth and Poole with SWR, and many more commuter towns, we await the timetable updates from Crosscountry services. On previous strikes, there has been a shuttle service up to Bournemouth to join trains to Waterloo, from the south of there, but not on this occasion. Portsmouth's areas have no trains at all too and some other large towns across the counties.
It will make our buses very busy especially those connecting between Weymouth & Dorchester towards the rest of the county in Dorset and sure this will be the same in many of our other counties. This will also impact on the days before, in-between and after strike with disruption to the end of the day services and later starting on 22nd, 24th and 26th June that are not strike days.
GWR will release their amended timetables as part of the strike action plan tomorrow for the first part of strike action, but have already confirmed no Weymouth to Bristol service during the strike action and train times subject to change with later start and finish times. GWR are allowing tickets to be used the day before strike action and 2 days after the dated ticket.

The SWR reduced timetable only gives trains in our area up to London Waterloo from Southampton Central & Basingstoke, from 0715 to 1830 on strike days, with 2 fast trains an hour. Except for the Isle Of Wight's Island Line, that is unaffected by the strikes.

Crosscountry Trains that travel through our area have not published any strike timetables at the current time but have stated that, If you have a ticket to travel on June 21, June 23 or June 25 this will now be valid for travel up to and including 20 June. Your ticket will only be valid on a like-for-like service, e.g. if you have an off-peak ticket, your ticket will only be valid on an off-peak service.
This information was correct at the time of publishing and would advise if you are travelling next week that you check before departure with your train company for the latest information. For all other areas across our counties as soon as we have further information we will make sure we pass this on.
