Round-Up From Weymouth Town Council's Finance And Governance Committee From February 2022

Grant applications to support gardening workshops were among items approved at a meeting of the Weymouth Town Council's Finance and Governance Committee on Wednesday 2nd February 2022.
The Volunteer Centre was awarded £2,000 towards regular gardening workshops, which will be led by an experienced gardener. The sessions will run March to October this year and be open to centre volunteers and members of the public who want to learn new skills and pick up some gardening tips.
Artwey was also awarded £2,000 towards the hire of a marquee to showcase work by Weymouth artists taking part in the Dorset Art Weeks, held at the Nothe Fort last year.
Other decisions made were:

Applying for a premises licence to serve alcohol at the Beach Cafe, with nearby catering kiosks able to do the same.

£10,000 considered towards a community arts weekend in September, in conjunction with We Are Weymouth, which could be similar to Activate Sense Of Unity event held last year. This will now go to the Full Council for a decision on funding.

A space for two street food stalls to operate along the promenade opposite Alexandra Gardens to be trialled for one season and fairground fees for the coming financial year were agreed.
