Sidmouth police officers help Rainbows group get their latest badge

Devon & Cornwall Police Officers from Sidmouth Neighbourhood Police Team recently had the honour of assisting a local Rainbows group in earning their police badge.

The children had a lovely time meeting PC Tom Driver and Police Community Support Officer Sarah Reece and they even got to see a police car up close with blue flashing lights.

The group also had the chance to try on some of the police uniform and find out more about how local officers keep everyone safe.

PC Tom Driver, Neighbourhood Beat Manager for the Sidmouth Neighbourhood Police Team, explained: “It was great to showcase our work and discuss the different departments and roles in the Devon & Cornwall Police Force. It was a joy to see the enthusiasm from the children and everyone left with a big smile on their face, as well as some special stickers.
“We really enjoy taking part in these community engagement events and we would like to say a big thank you to the Rainbows group of children and staff for their curiosity and excitement.”

The neighbourhood team have regular events in Sidmouth and the surrounding area so they can meet the public face to face and answer any queries or concerns. They welcome any other groups to come along and see them.

There is an opportunity to speak to one of the team at Sidmouth Library in Blackmore Drive (near Blackmore Gardens) on the first Wednesday morning of each month, as operational demand allows.

If you see officers out and about this summer patrolling at local events please come up and say hello.

You can see more updates and check events the team plan to attend by following the Rural East Devon Police Facebook account or logging on to the Devon & Cornwall Police website
