Weather Warning Reminders About Travel Disruption
Train companies across the UK are warning again, as the weather warning is extended to end of day Tuesday for ongoing disruption, especially in those red alert areas. Although here in the South and South West we are not under that warning level, our services will be travelling through the red warning areas, and temperatures expected to reach 40C in some areas, including London.
Network Rail has issued a warning about the impact of the rails and extreme heat and introducing speed restrictions to ensure the safe running. This will cause delays and cancellations as less trains will be able to run.
Customers of GWR and South Western Railway have been advised to only travel if absolutely necessary on Monday and Tuesday. Passengers are also advised that those who do travel should wear cool clothes, bring handheld fans and ensure they have plenty of water to drink.
Those who choose not to travel during Monday and Tuesday, can use their tickets on services on Wednesday and Thursday instead. Their Refund and Book With Confidence policies will remain in place.
If you do need to travel over the next couple of days, please do check with your train company before you set off.
