Weymouth Town Council To Mark Commonwealth Day 2022

Commonwealth Day will be marked by Weymouth Town Council hosting a flag raising ceremony on Monday 14th March 2022.

The ceremony will be held outside the Council Offices in the town on Commercial Road. The event starts at 10.15am, local councillors will attend and all residents are welcome. The flag will be raised at 10.30am, followed by speeches, led by Mayor Of Weymouth, Cllr Colin Huckle.
The theme for this year centres around "Delivering A Common Future" - highlighting how the 54 member countries are "innovating, connecting and transforming" to achieve goals like fighting climate change, good governance and boosting trade. To fight climate change, Weymouth Town Council, declared a climate emergency in 2019 and have committed to making the council's activities net zero carbon by 2030.

Commonwealth Day will be celebrated across all 54 countries, including a special service in London at Westminster Abbey from 2pm, which is being televised in the UK.
