Appeal for witnesses following fatal collision in Weston-super-Mare


Avon & Somerset Police Officers are investigating after a man tragically died in a collision in the early hours of this morning.

 

We were called at around 4.30am today (Friday 1 March) to Royal Sands, in Weston-super-Mare, following a report of a single-vehicle collision.

 

A motorcyclist had come off his bike after colliding with a wall. Despite the best efforts of members of the public and emergency services, the victim, in his 20s, died at the scene.

 

The man's family have been informed and our thoughts are with them during this difficult time. They will be offered support by a specially-trained family liaison officer.

 

Beach Road and some of Uphill Road North remain closed this morning in both directions from the junction with Clarence Road South to the junction of Moorland Road.

Witness appeal following collision in Weston-super-Mare


Avon & Somerset Police Officers investigating a collision in Weston-super-Mare on Friday are appealing for help to identify the driver of a car which failed to stop at the scene.


The collision took place at approximately 10.40pm on Friday 1 March on Old Mill Way, near its junction with Worle Moor Road.


A blue Ford with green writing on its side collided with a Ford Ka and failed to stop at the scene. No one was injured in the collision.

Appeal after serious assault in Bridgwater


Avon & Somerset Police Detectives investigating a serious assault in Bridgwater in the early hours of this morning (23 March) are appealing for witnesses to come forward.


We were called shortly before 1.15am by the ambulance service to a report that a man had been punched to the floor and knocked unconscious outside the Palace Nightclub in Penel Orlieu, Bridgwater.


The victim, aged in his 40s, was taken to hospital with head injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening but are believed to be life-changing. His family have been informed.


A 31-year-old man from Bridgwater has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm without intent and remains in police custody.
