Local mayors and civic leaders welcomed to Dorset wildlife haven

Civic leaders from Dorset visited Longham Lakes to learn about its benefits for wildlife and the community. The site, managed by South West Lakes Trust, offers recreational activities and is a haven for over 140 bird species.

The group met with Bournemouth Water representatives and toured the lakes during the visit led by Ferndown's Mayor, Cllr Krissy Stamp.

Richard Stanbrook, Bournemouth Water’s Director of Drinking Water Services, said: “It was great to show the civic leaders this wonderful site and to explain what we do for the community in partnership with South West Lakes Trust while supplying clean drinking water to more than 500,000 people.”
James Platts, Chief Executive of South West Lakes Trust, said: “It was an absolute honour to welcome the Mayor and her fellow dignitaries to Longham Lakes. It’s such a special place for people and wildlife – it’s always a pleasure to introduce it to more people.
“We are grateful to Bournemouth Water for enabling us to continue delivering our charitable work here at Longham.”
