Why is Chesil Radio not on FM frequency?
Firstly it's too expensive to do for a not for profit volunteer-led local radio station, and why waste money on old technology that is due to be replaced soon.
When will FM end?
The date has moved many times, and we feel it's better to establish ourselves as online only. It has been turned off in some countries already and the frequencies are needed for 5G and beyond.
FM Stations are potentially paying extra to be online alongside their FM signal, the same as our costs to run as online is different licence to FM and other frequencies. This also includes catch-up services that are also additional costs for us and them.
Other stations do what we do.... but it's listener choice who you listen too! If you have any questions about the station please contact: firstname.lastname@example.org
