Crowning Around For The Jubilee

Chesil Radio had made the decision to select one event to support during the four day bank holiday and that decision was made easily when The Friends Of Radipole Park and Gardens asked if we would help out at The Famous Old Spa event, where they were joining forces to bring together the local community.
On Saturday, the weather did look like it was going to be a factor, but although overcast it stayed dry for a great event. Opened by the new Weymouth Mayor, Cllr Ann Weaving, the car park was filled with many organisations along side the Friends, raising money for a defibrillator for the park, the RNLI, Nothe Fort, Coastguard, Cycling Without Age, face painting, Weymouth Vehicle Preservation Society, and children's author, Mike Elvy of the Fluke & Tash books.

It was the first time that Chesil Radio has been able to get out and perform since lockdown, and was pleased to have our full Weymouth team with us, John, Grace and myself, had great fun entertaining, those who had come down to enjoy sitting in the pub garden, followed by Milk And Two.
On the walk round the stalls, I had a go at the tombola and yes, I won... but I let the Friends team pick my ticket. The prize was an art set, which will keep me busy this Summer.
In true Chesil Radio style, we got into the spirit of the day, dressing up in our jubilee garments and after having spoken to the Mayor, not sure if I said the wrong thing as it looks like I was arrested by the police... I will leave you to think of what I did so wrong, but was one of our memorable days on location for me.

Big thanks goes to everyone who came along and supported the day... and watch this space for our next one...
