16 pubs. One day. One powerful reason.
Our Nikki is preparing to take on an emotional and physically demanding fundraising challenge in Nottingham — visiting 16 Castle Rock pubs in just one day, in memory of her father and to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK.

Nikki Latham, co-owner of award-winning online station Chesil Radio, will complete the challenge on Saturday 9th May 2026, retracing the steps of her dad, who was a regular across Nottingham’s well-known Castle Rock pub network.

For Nikki, this is far more than a test of endurance — it is a deeply personal journey shaped by loss, memory, and a determination to make a difference.
“I’m doing this in memory of my dad — and to help ensure other families don’t have to face losing their father to prostate cancer,” she said.
The challenge will see Nikki travel across Nottinghamshire throughout the day, moving between pubs that once formed part of her father’s social life. Many of the stops represents not just a checkpoint, but a connection — a place where memories were made, conversations shared, and community built.
The final destination will be especially significant: her dad’s local pub. It is here that the challenge will come to an end, bringing the journey full circle in what promises to be an emotional moment.
“It’s not just about getting to the finish,” Nikki explained. “It’s about what that finish means.”

The idea for the challenge builds on a previous fundraising effort that saw Nikki complete 25 Wetherspoons pubs in just four days — a feat that gained widespread attention and demonstrated both her determination and creativity when it comes to fundraising.
But this time, the motivation runs deeper.
“Last time was about the challenge,” she said. “This time, it’s about my dad.”

Prostate cancer is now the most commonly diagnosed cancer in men in the UK, affecting thousands of families every year. Despite this, awareness and early detection remain key challenges, something Nikki hopes her fundraiser will help address. For more information on this please visit: https://prostatecanceruk.org/
By linking her challenge to a well-known and much-loved pub network, she is also highlighting the role these venues play in everyday life — as more than just places to eat and drink.
“Pubs are where people connect,” she said. “They’re where stories are shared, friendships are built, and memories are made. For my dad, they were a big part of his life — and for many people, they still are.”
Castle Rock pubs, known for their strong community focus and distinctive character, provide a fitting backdrop for the challenge. The route will take Nikki across the city and wider area, requiring careful planning, stamina, and determination to complete within a single day.

While the logistics are demanding, Nikki is no stranger to long days and complex challenges. Through her work with Chesil Radio, she has built a reputation for covering events across the UK, particularly within grassroots speedway, often travelling long distances to support the sport and its community. With her first speedway meeting of the season the following weekend, which would have been her parents wedding anniversary.
That same commitment is now being channelled into fundraising.
Supporters will be able to follow Nikki’s progress throughout the day via social media, i.e. Snapchat, TikTok, Facebook, etc, with updates expected from various stops along the route. She is also encouraging people to come along, show their support, and help raise awareness for the cause.
“I know it’s going to be tough,” she said. “But if it gets people talking, if it raises awareness, and if it helps even one family, then it will all be worth it.”
The fundraiser is supporting Prostate Cancer UK, a leading charity that funds research, provides support services, and campaigns to improve diagnosis and treatment for men across the country.
For Nikki, the charity’s work is something she understands all too well.
“When you lose someone to cancer, it changes you,” she said. “You realise how important it is to support the people doing the research and helping families through it.”
The challenge is also a reflection of Nikki’s wider commitment to community and storytelling through Chesil Radio, which has built a loyal audience by focusing on local voices, grassroots coverage, and meaningful content.
Whether broadcasting live from events, supporting charities, or engaging with listeners, the station prides itself on being, in its own words, “local radio by local people”. And although Nottingham is not local, the beer plays a big part to the station's coverage and Nikki growing up in Nottingham in her teenage years, learning her DJ skills and love of fundraising makes it a fitting location too for this challenge.
This latest initiative is a natural extension of that ethos.
As the countdown to 9th May continues, Nikki is preparing not just for the physical demands of the challenge, but for the emotional journey it represents.
Retracing her father’s footsteps through the pubs he once knew so well is likely to bring moments of reflection as well as determination.
But the message behind it remains clear.
“This is for him,” she said.
Donations to support Nikki’s challenge and Prostate Cancer UK can be made online, with all funds going towards supporting research, awareness, and care for those affected by the disease.

As she sets out across Nottingham, visiting 16 pubs in one day, the challenge may be ambitious — but its purpose is simple.
Nikki finally adds: "This was the nearest weekend to what would be his birthday and in his own way, I hope his "No 1 daughter" makes him proud and raises as much money as awareness during this mission."
To remember.
To raise awareness.
And to make sure fewer families have to say goodbye too soon.
